The course aims to:
- Apply the methodology of “Action Learning”. This allows students to learn from each other as well as from the academic body of knowledge. It is important for students to return to the workplace well empowered with both knowledge and the ability to “do”
- Explain the intelligence cycle
- Explain phases such as collection of information, sources of information as well as the analysis of the information gathered
- Improve report writing
- How to present information – either through written reports or verbal presentations
- To prepare students for more advanced courses to follow
Each student will be requested to prepare a presentation of maximum 20 minutes during which he/she will:
- Introduce him/herself (ice-breaker)
- Elaborate on his/her role/function at the workplace, and
- Explain what would typically be security and or intelligence threats in their respective organisations/work environments
Each student will have to submit an assignment relevant to his/her workplace within two weeks after return to work. These assignments will require close liaison with fellow colleagues and supervisors.

Course fees are R4950-00 per student. It includes tea/coffee, lunch and a course function. Accommodation could be arranged at extra costs. The fee of R4950-00 per student should be paid in full prior to the start of the each course
